[:en]THE SCROLL AND THE LAMB (vs. 1-14)

Modern books are ancient scrolls.  The scroll that John saw contained the full account of what God had in store for the world.  It was sealed and only Christ is worthy to break the seal because He conquered sin, death, hell and Satan.  Since Jesus is from the family line of David, he is “Heir to David’s throne” and the “Messiah” in the Old Testament.

Jesus Christ is pictured as a Lion ((symbolizing authority and power) and a Lamb (symbolizing His submission to God’s will).  As the Lamb, Christ was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all and defeated the forces of evil.  As a Lion, He will lead the battle against Satan and win victoriously.

The horns symbolize strength and power.  Although Christ is a sacrificial lamb but he is not weak.  He was killed but now He lives in God’s strength and power.

People from every nation are praising God before His throne.  God’s message of salvation and eternal life is for all tribes, language, people and nations.  He welcomes all people into His kingdom.

As Jesus had died and paid the penalty for sin, He is now gathering us into His kingdom and making us priest to serve Him.  Let us worship God and praise Him for what He has done for us.

Angels are spiritual beings created by God to carry on His work on earth.  They bring messages (Luke 1:26-28), protect God’s people (Daniel 6:22), offer encouragement (Gen. 16:7), give guidance (Exo. 14-:19), bring punishment (2 Sam. 24:16), patrol the earth (Eze. 10:9-14), and fight the forces of evil (2 Kings 6:16-18; Rev., 20:1)

There are good and evil angels.  The good angels offer continuous praise to God while the bad angels are allied to Satan and forever condemnmed.

Chater 5 shows us that Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God is worthy to open the scroll (the events of history).  He is in control of every events until the last days of history.[:]
