[:en]This verse “Why are you downcast O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God” (v. 5) was mentioned in the previous chapter twice and is again repeated here.
David was surrounded by deceitful and wicked men. He felt as though God had forsaken him. He looked as if the enemy was winning and he was losing. So he prayed” “Oh, send your light and your truth to guide me” (v. 3). He asked for God’s “light” to guide him and the “truth” to guard him.
Where can we find God’s light and God’s truth? From God’s Word. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps. 119:105). God’s word is truth. “Sanctify them by truth. Your word is truth” (John 17:17). By following God’s light, it leads us to God’s path. And that path ultimately lead us to His presence. “Let them (light and truth) bring me to your Holy mountain, to the place where you dwell” (v. 3). When we come to the altar of God, He becomes our joy and our delight.
Our world is infected with moral and spiritual darkness. “Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come to the light” (JKohn 3:20). Not only is our world dark, it is also a deceived world. People love lies. Lie is running around the world without truth. Are you reading His Word to get the light and truth from the Lord?
