[:en]This chapter describes wars between the North (Syria) and South (Egypt) and Greece.  At verse 36, a king, the Anti-Christ will exalt himself.  He will extend his power over many countries and gain control of the treasures of gold and silver.  Yet he will finally come to an end.[:]

[:en]John was happy to learn that his friend Gaius was walking in the truth (vs. 3-4).  He was faithful in showing hospitality and love to God’s servants. (vs. 5-6).  Diotrephes was a gossiper and he refused to welcome John’s friends. (vs. 9-10)  In contrast, Demetrius lived up the truth with good testimony (v. 12)[:]

[:en]We are to walk in the truth (v. 4), love one another (v. 5), and walk in love (v. 6).  We have to watch out the deceivers (v. 7) and continue teaching and defending the truth (v. 9-10)[:]
