[:en]John was happy to learn that his friend Gaius was walking in the truth (vs. 3-4).  He was faithful in showing hospitality and love to God’s servants. (vs. 5-6).  Diotrephes was a gossiper and he refused to welcome John’s friends. (vs. 9-10)  In contrast, Demetrius lived up the truth with good testimony (v. 12)[:]

[:en]We are to walk in the truth (v. 4), love one another (v. 5), and walk in love (v. 6).  We have to watch out the deceivers (v. 7) and continue teaching and defending the truth (v. 9-10)[:]
